nft artwork

Non-fungible Token (NFT)

An NFT is a type of cryptographic token that represents a unique asset. NFTs are tokenized versions of digital or real-world assets. They function as verifiable proofs of authenticity and ownership within a blockchain network. Find out more about digital art and the blockchain.

This is also exceptionally comprehensive: The NFT Bible

EthGirl, my first NFT creation, was inspired by my Crypto Picasso painting 'Ethereum Girl with Mandolin'.

I partnered with the highly respected cryptoartist MoneyAlotta who developed the animation elements and we dropped EthGirl on the SuperRare auction marketplace on the 14th December. The artwork was met with acclaim and after an intense bidding war we accepted a final bid of $10,027 USD the following morning. EthGirl smashed all records on SuperRare.

My 2nd NFT was inspired by my painting 'Violin, Grapes and Bitcoin'.

3. Cubist Satoshi

- View Cubist Satoshi
on OpenSea

Titled the same as the painting, Cubist Satoshi was my 3rd NFT artwork and instead of a 1 of 1 NFT edition I decided to create an edition of 21. The number 21 derives from the 21 million total bitcoin that can ever be mined.

While Picasso paints a figure and an animal separated by a bitcoin ‘B’ on glass a cubist portrait of Satoshi shatters and shards apart over top of him in the geometric shapes that create the painting. Somehow the work of art reassembles itself but this time with the portrait of the important French art dealer Ambroise Vollard in the place of Satoshi. Subsequently, Vollard shatters and falls to the floor leaving a somewhat amused Satoshi underneath with a rocket launching and a ‘21’ rotating across the painting surface. Say hello to Cubist Satoshi.

- Find out more about the artwork and the symbolism at my blog post

Like all my new NFT artworks, The Hodler is made up of three very distinct creative components, each adding to the overall symbolic meaning of the piece. The painting, the AR video and the NFT combine to create a ‘total work of art’, a kind of gesamtkunstwerk, and an opportunity to develop the narrative even further through symbolism and added meaning.

5. The Ecstasy a.k.a The Bitcoin Angel

- View the Bitcoin Angel with audio on SuperRare
- Find out more about the Bitcoin Angel at my
 blog post

The Ecstasy, or ‘The Bitcoin Angel’, represents dreams, hope, good intentions and the desire to improve oneself, but the artwork also acts as a warning to the greedy, self-absorbed and negligent that without caution and integrity, those ‘dreams’ can very quickly turn into something entirely different. This was my first MP4 video animation with audio.
