I connected with the highly respected digital and cryptoartist MoneyAlotta in December to collaborate and create a non-fungible token (NFT) artwork titled EthGirl, which was inspired by my original oil painting Ethereum Girl with Mandolin. Although MoneyAlotta is one of the more recognized artists in the digital space, this was my inaugural NFT artwork and it managed to generate a lot of buzz. EthGirl was uploaded to the SuperRare marketplace Saturday, December 14th, and the first bid of 1 ETH was placed within minutes. A bidding war broke out between the two biggest collectors in the space; WhaleShark and Moderats and very quickly the digital artwork broke the previous SuperRare all time high of $1,700. By early Sunday morning Moderats placed the enormous 72.1 ETH bid ($10,027.50 USD) to end the battle and which was subsequently accepted by the artists. View the EthGirl NFT, the artwork description and current price on SuperRare. Tweets about the sale of EthGirl:
WhaleShark: While I would love to continue to bid on the amazing work that @money_alotta and @trevorjonesart have created, the point that @Moderats and I want to make has been made. Cryptoart is the Future. My hat off to @Moderats, you've been here since the beginning, enjoy the reward :) SuperRare: Final bid of 72.1 ETH ($10,027.50) from collector @Moderats was accepted this morning by artists @trevorjonesart & @money_alotta for the “EthGirl” ! A new sale record on SR and a huge milestone for #CryptoArt, congrats to all! Jason Bailey (@artnome): Don't sleep on CryptoArt, it's regularly selling for hundreds to thousands on @SuperRare_co these days. The future is now!
