Edinburgh Art Exhibition Only Accepting Scottish Banknotes
Watch the transformation of the English banknotes into Scottish at the video below or at this YouTube link https://youtu.be/1LlGiWavrfQ
Pioneering technology artist, Trevor Jones, is only accepting Scottish banknotes at his exhibition in a city centre gallery in a playful nod towards the referendum. However, if someone would like to purchase an artwork with Bank of England currency, Jones, using a cutting-edge, augmented reality app and an iPad will transform the English currency into its Bank of Scotland equivalent. To complete the Scottish experience, scanning a banknote triggers Flower of Scotland.
Jones says, “I do believe Scotland will achieve independence in my lifetime. Admittedly, it will bring about huge change and uncertainty at first but, in the same way that technology is adding undeniable improvements to our lives, even if many fear the speed at which it’s occurring, I believe that ultimately Scotland too will be the better for change.”
Jones’ #EdinburghHacked is a technology charged art exhibition connecting paint with augmented reality (AR), morphing software, social media, and more to create an interactive space inspired by the city and that evolves and changes with those who engage with it.

#EDINBURGHHACKED
DIGITAL ARTIST TURNS EDINBURGH TOURIST ATTRACTIONS INTO HIS OWN PERSONAL CANVASES
Local artist, Trevor Jones, uses cutting edge technology to covertly embed his artwork onto city attractions to generate interest in an innovative exhibition running 2 – 9 September at the Dundas Street Gallery.
Digitally overlaying images of his own paintings onto popular locations including the Scott Monument, Edinburgh Castle, Valvona & Crolla, and even masterpieces at the National Gallery, Jones hopes to offer insight into how new technology will change the way we engage with the world in the near future.
#EDINBURGHHACKED at the Dundas St. Gallery is the physical exhibition and culmination of film and paintings inspired by Edinburgh. The most technologically advanced paintings in the country, each artwork is digitally linked through augmented reality (AR) to a short film and real-time social media feeds to become evolving, organic works. There will also be an EEG brainwave headset that visitors to the gallery can try on to capture their physiological responses to each painting.
Jones says, “This is a unique and innovative art exhibition connecting paint with cutting edge technology to create an interactive space and artwork that changes with all who engage with it.”
